Planning timeline
When should you start looking for student accommodation?
A practical booking timeline for international students, from university shortlist to signed accommodation contract.
Research before you reserve
There is no single correct booking month for every city or intake. Build a shortlist early, but separate research from payment. Compare the campus you will actually attend, realistic transport, contract dates, and the full amount payable before placing a deposit.
- Confirm the teaching campus
- Write down your earliest and latest move-in date
- Compare total contract value—not only weekly rent
- Keep a backup option until the contract is signed
Treat deadlines as property-specific
Availability changes by city, room type, and contract length. Ask each provider to state in writing how long an offer is held, which payment secures it, and whether that payment is refundable. Avoid urgency claims that are not tied to a dated written offer.
Before paying
Match the provider name, payment recipient, property address, room type, dates, and cancellation terms across the offer and contract. If anything differs, pause and ask for a corrected written version.
